Dance of Responsibility and Creativity
This session began with a dragon underground near a well. I could feel the fire in the dragon's belly and the power in my shoulders as she clawed her way to the surface.
I was excited about making a dragon and even more excited when I found the open weave silver cloth for dragon skin. I thought it would look great over red velvet, but the velvet was too dark and didn't show up very well.
For the background I found some upholstry material that reminded me of sand with patterns that a snake might make working her way across the sand.
Just as the session was ending a lady appeared on the horizon carrying an enormous sack. She wanted to be unburdened of this sack of responsibility NOW!! She wanted to dump it down a well.
I made the sack out of material that had enticing strings of sequins swirling on net. The opening of the well is made of velvet and the sides of the well of some corregated material.
The lady's skin is a silk and linen weave. The fingers of her left hand crossed when I made them. She's hoping for a good outcome.
I wanted both figures to have their point of view. We look down on the dragon and across at the lady. But this made the lady look like she could fall down the well.
I changed the sky and the border to contain the movement better and then added the cone of sheer material as a place where the load of responsibility could drop.
After making this wall hanging I've pondered what the load of responsibility is and I think I used to feel responsible for other people's happiness. It's a tremendous burden and I"m so happy to be rid of it. Now I can dance with my creative dragon
