Getting to the Top
My father loved mountains. They inspired him to climb straight to the top in the most straight forward way.
I was OK with this for a while, but then I wanted to stop and play in whatever wonderful place presented itself along the way.
How could I show this? I traced my father's path with straight orange tape and my more meandering dreamy way with looping gold braid.
As to being in a beautiful place, I found an embroidered back pack I bought in Peru and spent 3 days undoing the stitching that made it into a back pack.
It was fun to explore my father's love for the mountains.
And to realize that the mountain returned his love.
In the end my father part calmed down a bit and my girl part enjoyed playing with her beautiful Peruvian visions.
In the IFS session and later in the making of this wall hanging i learned that I could go more slowly and choose how I approach something I love.
Sometimes it feels great to go striaght to the top and other times it's more rewarding to meander.
