Rumplestilskin who takes his orders from Odin in this Internal Family System session starts out being very upset that I had seen a powerful presentation that suggested that men should bow down to women in order to heal both themselves and the women in their families.

“What rubbish” my inner Rumplestilskin thought as he barged around my inner being tormenting me with self hating self talk. To him and this part of myself, females were not worth much. 
​

But after some work with Joanne where Rumplestilskin had his say about how it was so dangerous for women to have a say in how the world works, he was willing to be unburdened.  He still felt like a ringmaster part but he agreed it was OK to have the boy and girl puppets be on an equal plane.


I made the child puppets out of red clay colored material trying to fashion them so they looked like clay just being formed.  As I was cutting the second using the first as a pattern I was prompted to change one arm so they were a little different.  Later when I thought the puppets needed gender it was easy to give the boy a ball, for his arm was already in throwing position, and the girl a doll for her hand and arm were ready to receive it.

My sister in law, Jane made pottery eyes that I used on Odin and Rumplestilskin.  Rumple’s head and clothes and the blue strip above and below come from fabric from Nigeria, a gift from my friend Jody.  The border occasionally says Number 1 Ultimate by DaViva, which also fits.

Odin’s beard becomes the world tree as it trickles down through Rumplestilskin, and holds the puppeteer up.  Since he doesn’t stand on his own feet he too looks like a puppet manipulated by how he’s been trained to see the world by bigger forces than himself.  Here Odin is a sky god with his hair taking over the whole sky with material that is also reflected as earth.
